A Family That Lasts

What I want to tell my family:

A family is an organisation —

an organisation that rests on 2 things:

  1. People wanting to spend time together

and

  1. the environment around them, or where they live their lives or meet, to be functional.

There are two costs to pay to keep this organisation running well:

  1. The cost of connection

and

  1. The cost of practical function.

Any time behaviours strike either at the foundation of connection — people wanting to spend time together — or practical function — the financial & other roots of the organisation — there are conversations to be had to correct course

— otherwise the future of the organisation is threatened.

A family that masters these conversations is one that lasts.
